  15. How to Play
  16. ===========
  17.  
  18. You control Wonderland's winsome heroes, 
  19. Stinky and Loof. Your goal is simple: 
  20. Collect all the Rainbow Coins in each 
  21. level, and make it safely to the exit. 
  22. Trouble is, most coins are hidden,
  23. guarded, locked away and in generally 
  24. hard to reach places.

  47. During the game, you can also take a 
  48. screenshot by pressing F8. The file will

  54. Scoring
  55. =======
  56.  
  57. Each world will challenge you with several 
  58. levels. While the main goal in each level 
  59. is to collect all Rainbow Coins, there are 
  60. also several ways to collect Bonus Points:
  61.  
  62. Bonus Coins - while it is not necessary to 
  63.               collect these, each will earn 
  64.               you 250 points. Note that
  65.               these coins are often in very 
  66.               hard to reach places and require 
  67.               you to overcome additional
  68.               obstacles.
  69. Time -        the faster, the better. Each 
  70.               left-over second on the level 
  71.               clock will earn you earn you 10
  72.               points.
  73. Monsters -    often you can find clever ways 
  74.               to eliminate your adversaries. 
  75.               Each will earn you 250 points.

  77. Once a level is completed, the level score will 
  78. be added to your grand total. You are encouraged
  79. to replay levels to try and beat your score - 
  80. either by finding new Bonus Coins, or completing 
  81. the level faster. If you do, your new score will 
  82. replace your old score, hence increasing your grand
  83. total.

  90. Sound Volume - select volume level of sound effects
  91. Music Volume - select volume level of soundtrack
  92. Resolution   - change screen resolution. Note that 
  93.                the game will restart if the resolution
  94.                is changed.
  95. Detail Level - change number/detail of environmental 
  96.                effect, such as snow, explosions, etc.
  97.                This should only need to be changed 
  98.                for very slow computers.

  113. Note that performance is primarily dependant on your 
  114. video card. Wonderland will run smoothly on a lower 
  115. end Pentium with a recent/fast video card, but will 
  116. require a faster processor if your video card is less 
  117. recent.

  133. 1. The game is running slow!
  134. ----------------------------
  135. Wonderland is designed to run on even lower-end Pentium 
  136. systems, provided that they have a fairly recent graphics 
  137. card. Here are some options if your system meets the 
  138. minimum requirements, but the game still runs slow. Try 
  139. changing to a lower resolution or lowering the detail 
  140. level in the Options Menu. Also make sure that you have 
  141. no programs running in the background of your system, 
  142. such as Ad-Ware or Spy-Ware programs. Check out 
  143. www.lavasoft.de for Ad-Aware, a program that checks your 
  144. system for such malicious software. Finally, ensure that 
  145. you do not have a virus that might be affecting your system .

  147. 2. The game doesn't run at all!
  148. -------------------------------
  149. Ensure that you have the latest DirectX drivers. You can 
  150. download them at www.microsoft.com/directx for free. Also 
  151. make sure that your video- and sound-card drivers are up to 
  152. date. Visit the manufacturers website for updates. Check 
  153. for viruses and Spy-Ware (see above). If all else fails, 
  154. contact us at support@midnightsynergy.com and include a 
  155. detailed description of the problem and your system 
  156. specifications.

  158. 3. I've deleted my Player Character!!!
  159. --------------------------------------
  160. Don't panic. If a player character is deleted, a backup 
  161. copy is stored in the Players directory with the .bak 
  162. extension. Simply rename "playername.bak" to 
  163. "playername.pla", and off you go!

  165. 4. I've switched to Windowed Mode, but it's still Fullscreen
  166. ------------------------------------------------------------
  167. Some older video cards will not allow Windowed Mode in 
  168. certain resolutions. You might have some success by changing 
  169. the resolution to 640x480, or you might have a video card
  170. incapable of Windowed Mode - in which case Wonderland will
  171. automatically switch back to Fullscreen.

  173. 5. I've switched to Windowed Mode, and now the game doesn't run
  174. ---------------------------------------------------------------
  175. If your video card is completely incompatible with Windowed 
  176. Mode, simply delete the "options.dat" file to restore your
  177. original (FullScreen) system settings.
